Model Year 2004 (MY04) Cars

Aston Martin DB9
|
Spring 2004 |
|
| |
Aston Martin's awesome new DB9 is expected to be making an
appearance at shows before the end of 2003, and is due for release in early
2004. The aluminium bodied beauty is one of the best looking Astons
yet, but is expected to sell for a similar price to the outgoing DB7.

Porsche Boxster 550
|
Spring 2004 |
|

|
|
|
|
Porsche are believed to have a Special Edition 550 Boxster
on the way. The new model will have only 6bhp more than the current S,
but will be loaded with about £15K worth of extras on top of the Air
Conditioning and other goodies already found on the S. These are to
include PSM (Porsche Stability Management) and Bose sound, and lots of
Aluminium and Chrome. The car celebrates the model's links back to the
550 Spyder, a classic Porsche on which the Boxster lines were based.
Porsche fans are queuing up to get their hands on this special which will
probably be priced at just over £40K, making it a motoring bargain if the
options included are to your taste. But we're not convinced that all
that Aluminium and Chrome is going to be to everyone's taste. There
will be just 1953 cars produced, and an estimated 160 are coming to the UK;
but that's a lot of similar looking cars for a marque where it's rare for
two cars to ever be made the same. |

Porsche 911 Special Edition
Also new from Stuttgart are a pair of new 911s, including
a limited edition special to celebrate the car's 40th anniversary, and a
twin turbo version of the GT2 which produces a staggering 483bhp! The
former is going to cost around £68,000 making it quite a good buy in 911
terms, and the latter's going to be a whopping £127K putting it right at
the top of the 911 range. Porsche seem to have gone special edition
mad at the moment, and there's got to be a fear that the public will tire of
it. Is there going to be demand for the ordinary cars with this sort
of thing happening?

Audi S3
|
2004
|
|
|
Meanwhile, the guys at Audi are working on a new S3 based
on the new Golf/A3 platform. We're expecting the car to be something
special as they have to make sure they take a firm grasp on the luxury hot
hatch market. In the past VAG have occasionally allowed the top end
Golf GTI to outperfrom the Audi equivalent, and that's surely not good for
business - not from the company that is the master of making different
brands for different market sectors. Also due in 2004 are new versions
of the Skoda Octavia, Seat Leon and a number of variants of the VW Golf.

BMW X3
|
2004
|
|
|
Word on the streets is that BMW's new 3 series based soft
roader, the X3 will be on the streets before the end of 2004. This is
going to be a massive seller and waiting lists are going to be huge, so if
you want one get your name down now! Demand for the X5 was awesome,
and we're pretty confident that BMW are on target again with this one.
There's plenty of drivers of smaller cars who want to get in on the high end
SUV market without going for the bulky X5, or rivals like the Mercedes M
Class and Porsche Cayenne. At launce the X3's going to be in a class
of its own, and that always means big sales and big profits. Waiting
lists are already lengthy, with plenty of people figuring that this is one
of those cars, like the BMW mini, where you can snap up an early one, drive
it for six months, and virtually get your money back on a private sale.
